The Quest for Love

PART II: THE QUEST

So Pei Lynn set off on her way. But of course, being a streetsmart woman of the new millennium, she didn't go alone. She brought along a busful of bodyguards.

[Pei Lynn's got her bodyguards]

Pei Lynn planned her route carefully. Being situated in the south made her plans easier; all she had to do was head up north along the west coast, and then turn around and go back down south along the east cost.

They stopped at every town that existed on and off the map - they stopped at big cities like Malacca and Kuala Lumpur; they stopped at small cities like Batu Pahat and Seremban; they even stopped at towns which they didn't know how to pronounce the names of, like Skudai. At each stop, Pei Lynn visited the popular watering holes and shopping malls. But she found no one to her liking. Of course, Pei Lynn did meet a few guys who seemed quite nice. But again, they were either taken, or gay. And some she found out later, were not quite as sincere as they appeared to be.

Her bodyguards were also certainly not much help. Instead of helping her look for someone good, they seemed to be more on a vacation. It was only when Pei Lynn took away all their allowance and said she would only pay them after she found a suitable suitor, did they start doing their job properly.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. As the days wore on, Pei Lynn became more discouraged. She wondered if this search was really in futile. Are there really no good guys left in the country? Her bodyguards were also getting restless. They had started introducing her to all kinds of people they could pick off the street, desperately trying to match her up with someone so that the journey would be over.
